Parmesan Garlic Chicken Wings

It’s only 3 days away from “Super Bowl Sunday”.  Millions of people will be watching and rooting for their favorite team.  Some will be hosting and serving snacks at their house. One of the favorite foods to serve is chicken wings.  There are so many recipes for chicken wings and a very popular choice is Parmesan garlic chicken wings.

Baked Parmesan Garlic Chicken Wings

This recipe is different in the sense that the wings are baked and not fried. The wings are first baked in a mixture of dried herbs like oregano, rosemary and cumin.  It is then browned and tossed with a mixture of fresh basil, minced garlic, parmesan cheese, extra virgin olive oil and seasoning salt. The cooked wings are very light, delicious and not greasy. It is good by itself and even more so when dipped in blue cheese dipping sauce. Yummy 🙂

Cooking Tips for Perfect Wings

Achieving the perfect baked chicken wings is all about technique. First, make sure to pat the wings dry with paper towels before seasoning. Removing excess moisture helps the skin get that crispy finish in the oven. Also, consider using a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. This elevates the wings and allows hot air to circulate around them, promoting even cooking and browning. When baking, flip the wings halfway through the cooking time. This ensures both sides get crispy and golden. If you prefer an extra crispy texture, broil the wings for the last few minutes of cooking. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning. Finally, let the wings rest for a few minutes after baking. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping them moist and flavorful.

Serving Suggestions and Pairings

These Parmesan garlic chicken wings are versatile and can be served in a variety of ways. For a casual get-together, toss the wings in a large bowl and let guests serve themselves. You can also arrange them on a platter with fresh basil leaves for a pop of color. Pair the wings with classic sides like celery and carrot sticks, which add a refreshing crunch. For dipping, a homemade blue cheese sauce pairs perfectly, but ranch dressing or a spicy mayo also works well. If you’re feeling adventurous, try serving the wings with a side of pickled vegetables for a tangy contrast. For beverages, consider offering a selection of craft beers or a crisp white wine to complement the flavors of the wings. The right drink can elevate the entire experience, making it a hit at your Super Bowl party.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen chicken wings?

Frozen chicken wings can be used, but make sure to thaw them completely before baking. This will help them cook evenly and get that crispy texture you’re looking for.

What can I substitute for parmesan cheese?

If you don’t have parmesan cheese on hand, grated pecorino romano or a nutritional yeast blend can work as a substitute. Just keep in mind that the flavor will be a bit different.

How do I store leftover wings?

Store any leftover wings in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. When you’re ready to enjoy them again, reheat in the oven for the best texture.

Can I make these wings in advance?

You can prep the wings and season them a few hours ahead of time, just keep them covered in the fridge. Baking them fresh before serving will give you the best flavor and texture.

What sauces pair well with these wings?

These wings are great on their own but dipping them in blue cheese or ranch dressing really enhances the flavor. A spicy buffalo sauce can also add a nice kick if you’re feeling adventurous.

      Hi,
Garlic is the 8th ingredient in the list, right after the fresh basil.
