Miso Glazed Salmon

Miso Glazed Salmon My husband and I spent New Year’s Day with my sister and her family. We had lunch at her daughter’s house where everyone brought something to share. I brought honey soy chicken wings, turtle pretzels and mango pudding. My sister made pasta puttanesca, which was really delicious. My niece made miso flavored broiled salmon which I ended eating a lot of.  My husband and I were the first ones to arrive so I was able to see how the salmon was made.  It was easy to prepare and simple to make. I had left-over white miso paste in the fridge so I decided to make it at home. After finding the recipe online, I was able to make this tasty salmon dish on Tuesday for dinner. The salmon came out tender and succulent after 10 minutes in the oven. Cooking time may vary and depends on the oven and the thickness of the salmon. This miso-glazed salmon when cooked properly tastes amazing. Enjoy! Miso Glazed Salmon

Cooking Tips for Miso Glazed Salmon

To make sure your miso glazed salmon turns out perfectly, start by choosing the right cut of salmon. Salmon fillets with skin on tend to stay moist and flavorful during cooking. Before cooking, let the salmon sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes. This helps it cook evenly. If you want to enhance the flavor, consider marinating the salmon in the miso glaze for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight in the fridge. This extra time allows the flavors to penetrate the fish. When it comes to cooking, a preheated oven is essential. Broiling is a great method for this recipe, as it quickly caramelizes the glaze while keeping the fish juicy. Keep an eye on it while it cooks, as broilers can vary in intensity. The salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and has a nice golden brown color on top.

Serving Suggestions

Miso glazed salmon pairs wonderfully with a variety of sides. For a balanced meal, consider serving it over a bed of steamed rice or quinoa. The grains soak up the delicious glaze and complement the rich flavor of the fish. Adding a veggie side can brighten up the plate. Steamed broccoli, sautéed bok choy, or roasted asparagus are excellent choices. If you’re looking to add a bit of crunch, a simple cucumber salad drizzled with rice vinegar can provide a refreshing contrast. For a more elaborate meal, consider making a Japanese-inspired bento box with pickled vegetables, edamame, and some miso soup on the side. This creates a fun dining experience and showcases the salmon beautifully.

Storage Instructions and Variations

If you have leftovers, store the miso glazed salmon in an airtight container in the fridge. It should last for up to three days. To reheat, place it in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or until warmed through. Avoid microwaving as it can make the fish rubbery. If you want to switch things up, try different types of fish, like cod or trout, which also work well with miso glaze. For a twist, add some sesame oil or ginger to the marinade for an extra kick. You can also experiment with the toppings, like sprinkling sesame seeds or chopped green onions right before serving. This dish is versatile and can fit various flavor profiles, so feel free to get creative!
